The color palette of the large majority of rescued clothing and fabrics is black, grey and dirty whites. Even washed they still have the street soot and dirt that has permeated the textiles. After finding inspiration in a crosswalk in Flagstaff, AZ, I used the red found objects and metal bits to embellish the surface and to bring color into the composition. I enjoy the geometry of the painting on roads and streets that, when worn away, becomes an organic textural surface design.
